Poetry: is a type of literature that creates and emotional response in the reader. poetry is sometimes called "verse". Non-poetic writing is called "prose".
(1) Narrative: poem that tells a story
(A) ballad: poem that tells a similar to folk tale or legend and often repeats refrain.
(B) Epic: long, serious poem that tells the story of a heroic figure.
(2) Lyric: poem that expresses the thoughts and feelings of the poet. a lyric can resemble a song.
Meter: the arrangement of a line of poetry by the number of syllables and rhythm of accented (or Stressed) syllables.
Refrain: A line or group of lines that is repeated through a poems, usually after every stanza. ( in lyrics we would usually call this a chorus).
Stanza: Two or more lines of poetry that together form one divisions of a poem.
